This project is to store my grandson's outside toys. It is made from old decking. The front, top, and sides are all ship-lap style. The back and bottom are just slats, spaced evenly. Since this will be stored outide, it will get rained on and the slats will allow everything to drain and dry. The hinges are made of white oak that I treated with an organic wood preservative and then painted them black. Mike Williams

I was wanting a micro adjustable stop to easily adjust to high accuracy. The rough adjustment is accomplished by the track clamping bolts. The fine adjustment is the done with the adjuster on the end and loosening the knobs. Dan Martin

Have you witnessed having a drill bit grab the wood you are drilling on the drill press. It can either ruin the piece or create a spinning hazzard. I have made an easy-to-use hold down that will prevent this from happening. It has an eccentric cam that clamps and releases the work. It can clamp between 3/8" to 4" tall pieces. The height change is accomplished with slide-in spacer blocks and repositioning the pivot point axle. Dan Martin

Memorial Plaque Bob Chapman | I made these adjustable weaving loom benches of honeylocust, a very hard and stringy wood, but with a nice reddish color to it. The benches are adjustable to 5 different heights and can be disassembled for long storage. These will be used at the Newark Cultural Art Center. This was the first batch I got to use the floor standing mortiser with that I bought over the summer. I really like being able to lock the piece in the machine. Joshua Osborn |

I recently finished this outdoor bench and table out of Osage orange. It took me roughly one month of part time work to finish them. You can see some of the lumber I started with to create these items. This wood is hard and dense with contrary grain but I am fortunate to have spiral helix heads on my jointer and planer so I didn’t get much tearout. The bench is 6’ and can seat 3 people easily. It weights 121# and the bench weights 50#. This is a classic Chippendale design. Took most of a month to complete. Portable enclosure/stand for Bosch sliding arm miter box Dan Martin | I wanted to keep dust from blowing all over the shop so I enclosed the top and made a place in the bottom for additional storage. The support tables on either end can be folded up for movement. I made the front covers so that I could move them from side to side to accommodate any cut position. I have fitters on the back. I have found that I don't need to use the dust bag to catch the dust. The enclosure is effective in catching the dust. I have the area under the saw open so that the dust will fall into the drawer so that it can be cleaned when needed. Dan Martin |

Bathroom cabinet Dan Martin | A George Nakashima Conoid chair in black walnut done in a Dale Barnard class. I made the spindles out of fiddleback maple instead of ash that Dale provides. It will be used with a George Nakashima dining room table I made a long time ago. I have 6 more chairs to make. The chairs are very sturdy and comfortable. Dennis Wilson |
Here is a nice little morning project. I had a cup holder for my phone in the car but I did not like using one of the cup holders. So I came up with this holder that is held in the vent openings. I drilled 15 degree holes and installed 1/4" dowels to hang in the openings. It is real easy to install and remove when needed. Dan Martin
I have made a fingerless feather board that really works well. I was making some rails and styles for doors and when I needed to plunge cut for a stopped cut and the feather board fingers were not letting me plunge cut because the fingers were under the bottom of the board. Hanging cabinet doors can be a little tricky to hold the door and get your mounting holes in the right spot. I have made a left and right hand door support blocks that make the task easy. Dan Martin | Installation of door with jig. Woodcraft magazine published Dan's jig! |
