What tools have you found to be most valuable in your shop?
The power tools I use the most are the table saw and chop saw, followed by the jointer, drill press, and router/router table. The hand tools most frequently used are the tape measure, vernier calipers, set up blocks and hand chisels. I have made furniture, small toys, boxes etc. for gifts.
Table saw, planer and router lift mounted in my workbench. Also the usual variety of hand tools and sanders,
My cabinetmaker workbench that I made, I couldn't work without. Certainly my tablesaw is my most used powertool.
The tool that I hesitated for a long time to buy, is my drum sander. They aren't cheap. Now that I have one, I find all kinds of ways to use it. So helpful and a time saver.
Hi all- sorry to get on to this thread but just got to the forum. I suggest the following:
Bandsaw- very good one that can re-saw; also necessary to have fences , square, etc.
Set of chisels and sharpening tools
Marking gauges and measuring gauges
Bow saw, dovetail saw
#5 and #7 planes with fences for joining boards; router plane, and block plane
Beginning set of carving tools
Hand scrapers
Planer - 12-15” bed
Honestly you don’t need anything else- you can make all kinds of furniture with these tools
I have a bandsaw, lathe and planer- and a wide variety of hand tools - and I have done many types of furniture (carved mouldings, inlay, etc)….
